William H. Pyles, 77

William H. Pyles, 77 of Merritt Island, FL, a former Friendship resident died Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach, FL.. Bill was born June 19, 1929 in Friendship to the late William Albert and Grace Pearl Holsinger Pyles. He retired from Martin Marietta where he was a safety engineer. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, a member of American Legion Post 471 and had served as its Commander; he was also a member of Friendship United Methodist Church and had attended North Merritt Island United Methodist Church while living in Florida. He was a member of Nauvoo Masonic Lodge, a member of the Scottish Rite of Cincinnati, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and a member of the Scioto County Republican Club.

Bill is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Murray Pyles whom he married August 1, 1955. He is also survived by a son W. Jay Pyles of Fosston, MN; a daughter, Polly Ann Lambermont of Columbus; and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Bauman, a half-brother Raymond Pyles and a half-sister Mildred Sutton.

Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Sunday, July 23, 2006 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Matthew Brooks officiating and interment in Worley's Run Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 6 to 8:30 P.M. on Saturday and from 1 to 2 P.M. on Sunday. A Masonic Service by Nauvoo Lodge of West Portsmouth will be 8 P.M. Saturday.
