William D. Stapleton, 77

William D. Stapleton, 77 of Portsmouth died Thursday, March 25, 2021 at SOMC Hospice. He was born December 29, 1943 in New Boston to the late Leonard and Katherine Fultz Stapleton. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Willie Stapleton, and 3 sisters; Loraine Stanley, Betty Taylor, and Marie McKenzie.

He was a United States Army Veteran, worked in construction, and was a jack of all trades.

William is survived by his friend, Nora Stiers, 3 sons; Billy (Casey) Stapleton, Leonard Stapleton, and Bobby (Jen) Stapleton, 2 daughters; Christie (Brian Corron Sr.) Stapleton and Angela Reed, 7 grandchildren; Billy Jr., Brian Corron Jr., Alexis Whitley, Rosalena Stapleton, Jade Stapleton, Jaylynn Stapleton, and Braylynn Mathes, 3 brothers; James Stapleton, Clarence Stapleton, and Glenn Stapleton, and a special niece, Diana Cook, along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, April 1, 2021 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Mary Hoffer officiating. A military graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Greenup, Kentucky provided by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday starting at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the funeral home.
