Jason Moore, 43

Jason Moore, 43, formerly of West Portsmouth, died Sunday, December 21, 2025, at his home in Portsmouth. He was born November 26, 1982, to the late Roger Moore Sr. and Pamela Sissel.  Along with his parents, Jason was preceded in death by his brother, Matthew Moore; his great-niece, Emilee Jo Ratcliff; and his grandparents, Roby and Loretta Moore and Andrew and Pauline (McGraw) Sissel Jr.

Jason was a 2002 graduate of Portsmouth West High School, where he discovered his love for color guard, a passion that remained with him throughout his life, as he could still be found twirling his flag and embracing the art he loved. He spent many years working at McDonald’s, where he was known for treating every customer with kindness and always greeting them with a smile. Jason was proud to be five and a half years clean and deeply cherished his recovery family, encouraging others in their recovery and celebrating their successes. He loved his cats, anything involving music or art, and enjoyed drawing as a form of expression. Jason was passionate about showing support at Pride events and lived authentically as his true self. Most important to Jason was his relationship with God; he believed strongly in the power of prayer and found comfort, strength, and purpose in his faith.

He is survived by his brother, Roger (Mandi) Moore Jr.; his sister, Felicia (Anthony) Boyd; nieces and nephews, Rielly Carr, Tori Carr, Ethan Moore, Maria Leggitt, Matthew Boyd, Malachi Boyd, Lillie and Lainey Keenan; great-nieces and great-nephews, Jaxon Leggitt, Ethan Moore Jr., and Hallie and Sadie Ratcliff; his sponsor, Erin Pemberton; his close and dear friend, Tilman Ruggles; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whom he loved like family.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 29, 2025, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, with Connie Altman officiating. Interment will follow in McKendree Cemetery.
