Robert Baxter Sturgill, 70

Robert Baxter Sturgill, 70 of Columbus, died Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at his home. He was born June 21, 1954 in Flat Gap, Virginia to the late Fred and Rita Creech Sturgill.

Robert was a professional truck driver and was the owner and operator of Sturgill’s Trucking. He also was a contractor for Uni Pac for 20 years.

Robert is survived by his wife of 35 years, Vanessa Buckler Sturgill, whom he married on July 15, 1989; 2 Daughters, Sandi (Ryan) Dutiel of South Webster, Cassie Sturgill of Harrisonburg, VA.; 2 grandsons, Alex (Auston) Davis of Minford, Adam (Diana) Davis of Augusta, GA.; 3 great grandchildren, Archer, Adelaide and Charlotte; 5 brothers, Jim (Diane) Sturgill, Danny (Elaine) Sturgill, Estil (Rhonda) Sturgill, Bobby Sturgill and Jackie (Roberta) Sturgill; 2 sisters, Sarah and Wanda; 2 brothers-in-law, Rick (Jeannette) Buckler and Todd (Leslie) Buckler, along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, August 11, 2024 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Allen Harner officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park in McDermott.
