Roger Phillips Obituary

Roger D. Phillips, 72

Roger D. Phillips, 72, of Portsmouth formerly of South Webster, died Saturday, May 13, 2023, at SOMC Hospice.  He was born in Williamson, West Virginia on July 16, 1950, to the late Roland and Gracie Ison Phillips. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Katie Little Phillips, who he married September 4, 1973; 3 brothers Merlyn, James, and Thomas Phillips; 5 sisters Marie Hayes, Maggie Hill, Genevieve Thomas, Opal Phillips, and Loretta Phillips, a grandson, Levi, and a great granddaughter Maci.

Roger began working from a young age as a Coal Miner in the hills of Kentucky.  He enjoyed playing his guitar, singing, fishing, spending time with his family and his beloved dog, Gabe. 

He is survived by a son, Tommy (Jessica) Phillips; 2 daughters Juanita (Keith) Holloway and Sabrina (Ben) Newell; 6 grandchildren Brian, Danny, Hunter, Briana, Brittany, and Tomi; 4 great grandchildren Gracie, Brian, Koby, and Silas; a sister Janice Blevins, and several nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service will be held at 3:00PM Thursday, June 1, 2023 at the Unity Full Gospel Fellowship Church in New Boston with Bryan Davis officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Roger W.
