Ronnie E. Brown, 74
Ronnie E. Brown, 74, of Portsmouth, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021, at his home. He was born July 9, 1947, in Kermit, West Virginia to the late Orville and Dixie Castle Brown.
Ron was a 1966 graduate of Portsmouth West High School. After graduation he joined the Marine Corp. He served from 1966 to 1972. He was in the Vietnam War and was a highly decorated veteran. He was awarded the Cross of Gallantry with 2 Gold Oak Leaves. He was Past Commander of American Legion Post 471, a lifetime member of Dickson, Tennessee VFW, the Portsmouth and New Boston Eagles and the Moose Lodge. Ron Loved riding motorcycles and was instrumental in starting the ALR Post 471. Upon returning home from the military, Ron worked for the N&W Railroad. Also worked for Bob Boyd Ford in Columbus as a service manager. Later he moved to Tennessee and worked for Crowne Ford in Nashville.
Along with his parents Ron was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Lee Brown who passed away last week, mother-in-law, Marzella Cook and his Boxer, Harley Ezra Brooks Brown.
Ron is survived by the love of his life, Susan Cook Brown who he married on Valentines Day, a daughter, Candie (Richard) Asbell, daughter-in-law Ashley Payne, sister Donna ( Shawn) Gee, sister in law Debbie (Steve)Arnett, brother-in-law Jim (Jennifer) Cook, grandchildren; Christina (D’Neal) Phillips, Jess Payne, Rodney (Courtney) Holder, Lacey Bennett, Damon and Leah Payne, nieces and nephews; Rick Ferrell, Amy Monroe, Andy Arnett, Kellie(Wes) Cline, and Farryn (Erik) Bussa, great-grandchildren; Hayden Payne, Wyatt Mason, Saphira, Draco, Maleficent, Alina and Elliott Holder, great nieces and nephews; Haydn Christian, Brynn, Scout, and Mya Monroe, Isaac and Bella Ferrell, Alec and Austin Arnett, Eden and Alyson Cline, Annabelle and Bennett Bussa,
Ron was a very witty, fun loving guy who enjoyed telling stories and playing music when visiting with his family. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Jeff Chinn officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park with Military graveside rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday and one hour prior to the services on Thursday. The family requests that everyone attending wear a mask.
