Thomas Edward Mathews, 72

Thomas Edward Mathews, 72 of Chillicothe, died Saturday August 26, 2023 at his home. He was born June 11, 1951 in Columbus to the late William Russell and Frances Elizabeth Schackart Mathews.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Kristen Mathews Steele Brewer.

Tom was a Unted States Navy Veteran, a retired contractor, an avid music lover and a lifelong musician. His compassion for his music resulted in his nickname “The Music Man”. 

Tom is survived by his loving companion of 11 years Shirley May Turner, a son William Thomas (Chianne) Mathews, a brother Terry (Delores) Mathews, a sister Linda (Gary) Clemmons, 6 grandchildren and 1 on the way: Dawson Mathews, Westin Mathews, Waylin Mathews, Parker Steele, Layni Brewer and Zayne Brewer, niece and nephews: Wendy Crowe Jeff Ratliff, Scott Ratliff and their families.

A Celebration of Life for Tom will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, September 10, 2023 at his home on 451 Pohlman Avenue in Chillicothe. The family would sincerely like to thank National Church Residency Hospice Team for their compassionate and loving care of Tom during his extended illness.
