Dorothy Mae O’Dell, 79

Dorothy Mae “Dottie” O’Dell, 79 of Friendship, died Tuesday July 5, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born September 14, 1936 in Cincinnati to the late David and Ruth Hobbs Wear. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Guild. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Nile Township Volunteer Department, a Cub Scout Leader and a Brownie Leader. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Along with her parents, Dottie was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Elizabeth Smith.

Dottie is survived by her husband Lynn Allen O’Dell, who she married on April 28, 1956, 5 children; Joe (Judy) O’Dell of West Portsmouth, Cheryle (Roger) Mills of Barboursville, WV, Tom (Teresa) O’Dell of Longview, Texas, Larry (Paige) O’Dell of Minford and Lynn (Amy) O’Dell Jr. of Minford, a brother, David (Cathy) Wear of West Portsmouth and a sister Carol (Harold) Puckett of West Portsmouth, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday July 8, 2016 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Reverend Gary Hopkins officiating and interment in Friendship Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 5 to 8:00 PM on Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday. An Eastern Star Service will be held at 8:00 PM on Thursday. The family would like to thank everyone at SOMC Hospice for their wonderful care.
