It is a great sadness knowing I wont see Doug "out and about". It was a privilege to be able to call him friend and work with him around the township. The earth is a little darker without him here and Heaven has certainly gained another angel. May God bless you and keep you wrapped in his loving arms and offer you peace,,,,,,,

Dear Delores, I am so sorry to hear of your brother Doug passing. We both know he is with the Lord and he will always be looking down on you and the family and all of our community as he loved us so much and we love him. He was one real genuine man always looking out for others and his family and was a great county commissioner. I will never forget him, as I feel in my heart as I look out to our grounds of land and in our sky he will be there. Love to you and your families. Prayers of hope and peace.

I was born in Portsmouth and moved away at an early age. However, the family made regular trips to West Portsmouth where I always hooked up with my favorite cousins Rick and Steve Nolder. Those of you who know Doug also know in his school days, if you saw Doug, the Nolders were right there. Doug seemed to always have something to say he 'swore' was true. And of course, many others were around like the Preston brothers, Fred Pistol, and Terry Gardner. I miss those days and now wish Doug and family the best.

My Friend Doug Coleman

I have a deep sorrow that is in my heart this day
Since I heard my friend Doug has passed away
I have known this fine man for many long years
For his wife and all his family I do to God pray

Doug was a man who tried to make things better
Dedicating his life to the community where he lived
He served as a trustee and a County commissioner
I think back and find I have fond memories relived

I remember when he and his wife Kathy were married
A young couple who proved their love would ever be
Doug worked after school hours until he graduated
Then driving one of Boone’s trucks I would then see

Doug some day I will be with you up in God’s place
There we can talk over all the good times we knew
Until that time you shall ever be in my heart and mind
It was so great that I had a wonderful friend like you

I graduated with Doug. He was always so nice to everyone at school. I saw him a few years ago when I came back to Portsmouth to visit my sister. He was still the kind person he was many years ago. Always helping people without asking for anything in return. I am so sorry for your loss. I loss my husband suddenly 8 months ago. It is so very hard but trust in God to get you through. Remember all the good times and know someday you will be together....
