Mary was a wonderful lady, and a great piano teacher. I took piano lessons for years with her, and she always had a good word for you, even if she knew you had not practiced much that week. My dad Lowell Fenton tuned her piano for many years and he thought the world of her too. Heaven sure gained a very special angel. May God Bless the family.

Peggy, your mom enhanced so many lives with her beauty and grace, sharing her love of music. Larry loved the time he spent with her, learning to play the piano. She was so encouraging, quietly leading him on a path he very much wanted to travel. One of his favorite songs that he learned was 'Amazing Grace', an odd choice for a Jewish guy! And when the rabbi explained at Larry's funeral the odd choice of a song for a Jewish funeral, it was perfect. Your mom played and Stan Workman sang, and slowly everyone joined in to sing. A moment in time I'll never forget. Mary was a gift to us and a gift to so many in our community. She will live in our hearts forever.

Dear Peggy, Janie and Family,
Your mother opened the doors to the love of music for me as my piano teacher. She encouraged me to take on new challenges and broadened my musical horizons. She contributed so much to her community and church. I always admired and respected her. May her memory be a blessing.

Peggy and Janie, I don't know if you will remember me or not but I want to express my sympathy at the passing of your mother. I never had the pleasure of meeting her but in looking at her picture, she was a very lovely lady. I know the hurt you are feeling now and want to let you know that God also knows your hurt and only He can give you the comfort you need. Treasure all the memories and keep her love in your hearts.

My heart is greatly saddened with the news of Mrs. Smalley passing. She was a wonderful person. I began piano lessons with her at 13. I remember her great patience as she taught me how to play. She was such a shining light, and always smiling. My deepest sympathies to her family.
