I will truly miss Uncle Mike, he was the first of my Dad's brothers that I got to know as a small child. He spent a lot of time with our family in Newport News.
Uncle Mike tricked me into taking my first swig of Kentucky moonshine, and years later showed me how to mix my own apple pie and strawberry shine.
Several years ago Uncle Mike reminded me that he had taken me on a police chase through Newport News in a cherry red convertible, he said I was around five or six at the time and I loved it! And the police never caught us!
My Uncle Mike may have had some rough ways about him, but I never saw it, he was always kind, and giving, and was kind of like my Dad and Grandma in the way that he tried to keep peace in the family and not take sides in the many quarrels. I know that he is in a far better place, with Grandma at his side.
Love you Uncle Mike
