About Us

Our Beginnings and Our Growth

In 1964 Roger W. and Lillian Davis opened the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth. Their goal was to give people the best possible care in their most difficult time of need. In 1985 their son R. Scott Davis joined the business and in 1990 Scott's wife Leichia joined the business. In 1993 Roger Davis died leaving his wife, son and daughter-in-law to follow his dream.

They have taken his dream and run with it. The funeral home now has this web site for information on funerals and to sign an online guest book or send condolences to families if people can't attend the visitation or funeral.

We have also teamed up with Flowers Monuments to offer a full line of monuments and markers. They are in construction of a new Memorialization Center where they will have a full display of granite and bronze monuments and markers as well as a line of memorial gifts including items and paintings from Thomas Kincade. Also in stock are a variety of yard rocks that can be personalized to fit each individual's need.

Every year we celebrate the annual "Tree of Remembrance Memorial Service" which was started in 1993. This service is held the second Saturday in December. Every year we have different speakers and a special singing guest to celebrate the event. The West High School Chorus has blessed this service with thier singing every year. The "Tree of Remembrance" stays illuminated throughout the holiday season.
