About Us

In 1964, Roger W. and Lillian Davis opened the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth. Their goal was to give people the best possible care in their most difficult time of need. In 1985, their son R. Scott Davis joined the business. In 1993, Roger Davis died, leaving his wife and son to follow his dream.

They have taken his dream and run with it. The funeral home now has this website for information on funerals and to sign an online guest book or send condolences to families if people can't attend the visitation or funeral.

We have also teamed up with Flowers Monuments to offer a full line of monuments and markers. They are constructing a new Memorialization Center where they will have a full display of granite and bronze monuments and markers, as well as a line of memorial gifts, including items and paintings from Thomas Kincade. Also in stock are a variety of yard rocks that can be personalized to fit each individual's needs.

Every year, we celebrate the annual "Tree of Remembrance Memorial Service," which was started in 1993. This service is held on the second Saturday in December. Every year, we have different speakers and a special singing guest to celebrate the event. The West High School Chorus has blessed this service with their singing every year. The "Tree of Remembrance" stays illuminated throughout the holiday season.
