Marzella Lavaun Cook, 87
Marzella Lavaun “Mert” Cook, 87 of Portsmouth, died Monday August 7, 2017 at Hill View Health Care. She was born August 22, 1929 in Portsmouth to the late Thomas and Violet Smith Litz. She worked at Central Industrial Supply for over 25 years. She was a member of First Christian Church in Portsmouth, a member of the Eastern Star, White Shrine and the bowling league. Along with her parents She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Harold Cook in 1977, 2 sisters; Joyce Joseph and Maxine Reeder.
Mert is survived by a son James Robert (Jennifer) Cook of South Shore, KY, 2 daughters; Deborah (Steve) Arnett of West Portsmouth and Susan (Ron) Brown of Portsmouth, a brother William Litz of Hilliard, 3 grandchildren; Andy Arnett, Kellie Cline and Farryn Bussa and 6 great grandchildren; Alec and Austin Arnett, Eden and Alyson Cline, Annabelle and Bennett Bussa.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday August 11, 2017 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Matt Brookes and Jeff Chinn officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8:00 PM on Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Angela R Arnett Mashing Melanoma Scholarship Fund.
